Over the past five years I have had three heart attacks and three angioplasties. In February of 1998, when I had my annual blood test, my cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, VLDL, and my cholesterol/HDL ratio were all abnormal. Six months after this, I had my third heart attack on 8/22/98. My cardiologist now told me that due to the almost complete blockage on many of my heart's arteries, I would never be a candidate for a heart bypass operation. After this third surgery, I was weak and very concerned how rapidly my health was deteriorating. My cardiologist recommended that I consider diet and lifestyle change.

It was at this point in my life that I decided to make some changes in my lifestyle and eating habits, and the urging of my son and daughter-in-law, I underwent 20 intravenous chelation therapy treatments, and soon after began Dr. Maile Pouls' nutritional program. Since I started working with Dr. Pouls I have reduced my weight from 230 pounds to 205 pounds (a healthy weight for my body size). The cardiologist assigned by HMO that performed my first two angioplasties, placed me on approximately ten different prescription drugs to control my symptoms of heart pain, diabetes, high cholesterol, high and low blood sugar, arthritis and skin conditions, and told me "nutrition would not work for my advanced heart condition". While learning from Dr. Pouls, I realized that these drugs only "treated" my symptoms and didn't address the numerous underlying nutrient deficiencies and weaknesses that she was able to measure in my body. At this time, I switched to a new, young cardiologist, who told me that even with the intravenous chelation that my heart was in bad shape. I was completely honest with him about my desire to get off as many drugs that treat symptoms and replace them with the proper nutrition to address the underlying causes of my health problems. To my delight, my cardiologist agreed. I presented to him the program Dr. Maile Pouls recommended and he began to modify my drug program. His only disagreement with me was regarding intravenous chelation, saying that it could possibly hurt me. Because of this, I chose to use the Oral Chelation products. As I slowly reduced the number of drugs I was taking, I discovered that many of the symptoms I was having were actually "side effects" of the drugs. I still continue to take small amounts of three drugs, and I monitor my blood sugar levels daily. For over ten months I have taken the Oral Chelation and Longevity Plus formulas, CoenzymeQ10, Vitamin E complex, Cardio-Protector, Joint Renewal and Joint lubrication, and digestive enzymes, Dr. Pouls closely monitors my blood panel and heart. I feel very lucky to have this "team" approach to my health.

Presently, I am able to exercise regularly, and I play golf at least twice a week. My cardiologist was pleased to report to me that my current blood panel was completely normal - something I had never achieved in the past. Best of all, many of my symptoms have disappeared and I have my energy back. I feel as if I have regained control of my lifestyle. These changes literally gave me my life back.
